CBC Youth partnered with Larry Mayberry back in 2009 when Memorial Drive Baptist Church in Houston, Texas decided to plan Disciple Now together. Larry was then the youth pastor and together with another church in Houston, we built a thriving network of ministry. Since then Larry and his family have responded to the call of church planting in Astoria, NYC. There he is the Community Pastor at Connection Church NYC. Before he left, Larry offered CBC Youth the opportunity to come and help him with his church planting offer. Just before leaving for New York, Larry told us, “You know there is only one evangelical church for 10,000 people in New York? With God’s blessing…we’re trying to make that two.”

 

Like many church plants, the hardest part is getting off the ground and building relationships with the community. CBC will be coming alongside Connection Church NYC and assisting them in whatever they need to do to get into the community. We’ll be engaging the neighborhood as representatives of Connection Church NYC and serving everyone. In the morning, we’ll be promoting the church’s services and location and in the evening we’ll be serving the community as ambassadors of the church.

 

Our goal is not to take our view of church and change things for them…rather it is to provide extra support and bodies for them to use as they engage their city with the Gospel.

 

 

Dates: June 4-9, 2012

 

Age Requirements: High School sophomores + older

 

Team size: 7-8 Youth & 4-5 Adults

 

Requirements: Servant Team member of CBC; pre-project; and fundraising.
