ABOUT US |
PHILOSOPHY So where do we start? Well, it begins at the core of who we are – the sinful, prideful, broken people that we know we are (Ephesians 2:3). And this is actually good news because we don’t have to be perfect in order for God to love us. Whether we're addicted to whatever or have never touched anything unclean, Jesus saves. We’re all in the same mess, but Jesus saves. It’s good news because we don’t have to pretend to be someone we're not. It’s good news because I just come as I am and He saves me. That is where we start. No superstars here, no entitlement…just Jesus saving busted up people. So we unapologetically preach the Word of God and we don’t shy away from the hard stuff. And although we love tradition and history, we love Jesus and His Word more. We spend our time studying scripture to find out where Jesus wants us to go and what He wants us to do. We spend our time praying and fasting so we know where the Holy Spirit is leading us. And you know what? Sometimes He calls us to do things that nobody else does…but we trust that He’s leading us this direction. Our leadership spends a huge amount of time in study and prayer so that we can hear from the Lord. So we ask you to trust us and our vision as we humbly follow after Jesus. We believe that life isn’t lived out in a vacuum. The issues in life are real. Breaking up is real, death and depression are real, and a good dinner with friends and the enjoyment that comes from it are real. So we do as much ministry in small community as possible. We know that ministry occurs in the context of relationships so we passionately pursue this. We ask that you be a part of this community here if you do decide to join our youth ministry. Our entire youth ministry is based upon relationships – whether between youth minister and student, parent and student, or youth workers and parents. Please understand this because we need you – your gifts, talents, and your own story. As believers, our job is “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12). It’s not to huddle up and make much of ourselves, but instead use the gifts, talents, time and resources to give back for the sake of the Gospel. So we’re going to use all of our resources to equip and train leaders – through education, personal discipleship, and fellowship. We know that our youth group is not for everyone. The way we do ministry is a way, not the way. We know that some people (youth or parent) may not agree with our philosophical views. We want you here, but more importantly we want you to follow Jesus. If there is another youth group in the area, please check it out. We are not interested in growing wide; we are interested in growing our youth deep. |
