I grew up in a Christian home and attended church pretty much all my life. I accepted Christ at a young age, but it really wasn't until I graduated from high school and went to college where God really used me as his vessel. I think before college, my Christian walk was stagnate.
After transferring to Texas A&M in my second semester of my sophmore year, God put InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in my life as His wake up call. He put the burden on my heart to show the campus His love that He has for all of us and to spread the joy of living for Christ. The next fall, I was helping with the Freshman Ministry team and served as a Group Investigating God small group leader. I didn't think I would ever be good at leading a group of guys, but God really showed himself to me that year. I had some good intentional conversations that lead to deeper discussions about Christianity. I learned to depend on God, wait on his timing, and that I didn't have to have all the answers to their questions. Little did I know that this was to help me the following year.
When senior year came, I was on the leadership team. Within the first week, I had shared the gospel with a friend and he accepted that night. It was a feeling of joy that I had never
felt. I never thought I'd ever do something like that before. God stretched me even more that year. I was more intentional on having conversations with others about how their Christian walk was going and learned how to really care for God's kingdom.
After looking back, it's amazing how God uses all the experiences in your life to help you understand what His plan is for you. God really does answers prayers and His Spirit may lead you to do some things that are out of the ordinary, but you just have to trust Him!
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight."
- Proverbs 3:5-6
